Events in Toronto and Ottawa August 17th Weekend
Hello again everyone! As summer begins to wind down, a new season sets in: Carnival Season. With the opening of the CNE in Toronto, and The Capital Fair in Ottawa, if you like carnivals, this weekend is for you. If not, there's plenty else to do so get out there and have some fun. At SpaceiShare, we get the importance of community, so every week we will be updating you on events in yours.

For the Kids:

CNE 2018 @ Exhibition Place: 10am-10pm Aug 17th-Rest of Summer:

If you live in Toronto, you know all about the CNE, or the Ex. The Ex is a classic Toronto summer experience, with games, rides, music, food and fun.

Butterfly Festival @ Tommy Thompson Park: Aug 18th 10am-3pm:

Celebrating the incredible migration of Monarch Butterflies to Mexico, this Festival will have costumes, nature hikes, education, and of course, butterflies.

Saturday Night Lights @ Downsview Park: Aug 18th 9pm-11:30pm:

Nothing beats family movie night, and this Saturday, Downsview Park will be having a free outdoor showing of the new Jumanji movie.

 

Good Eats: 

The Burger Fest @ Interchange Park: Aug 17th 4pm-11pm:

With craft beer, live music, and many varieties of burgers, The Burger Fest will be a great event for carnivores and beer lovers alike.

Taste of Manila 2018 @ Bathurst and Wilson:  Aug 18th-19th 9am-11pm:

Taste of Manila claims to be the biggest Filipino street festival outside of the Philippines, and will have tons of delicious and exotic delicacies that anyone can enjoy.

 

A More Mature Crowd:

 

Camp Wavelength @ Fort York National Historic Site: Aug 18th-19th 1pm-1am:

A music festival with an art spin, Camp Wavelength will have tons of hipster music as well as a bunch of genre bending art installations.


Pop Up at the Barns @ Artscape Wychwood Barns:  Aug 18th 8am-2pm:

Featuring a huge variety of artisans, this pop up market will have vendors selling their works in crafts ranging from fashion to home decor.

 

Party People:

 

Latin Sparks Block Party @ 222 Cherry St: Aug 18th 9pm-2am:

Calling themselves Toronto's largest block party, Latin Sparks will have DJs bumping music all night, as well as food trucks for when you get hungry from all the dancing.

 

Concerts:

 

Marianas Trench @ Bandshell Park, Exhibition Place: Aug 19th 7:30pm-10pm: 

Multi-platinum selling Canadian band Marianas Trench will be performing for only the cost of admission to the Ex, welcoming the start of the CNE.

The Capital Fair @ Rideau Carleton Raceway: Aug 17th-26th:

Featuring live music, rides, monster truck rallys, petting zoos, and so much more, The Capital Fair is a huge event great for any interests. 

Westboro Fuse Street Festival @ Richmond Road: Aug 18th-19th:

With live music, buskers, food, street yoga, as well as many others, the Fuse Street Festival will be fun for the whole family.

TD SouthAsianFest @ Ottawa City Hall: Aug 17th-19th:

Celebrating the wonderful food and culture of South Asia, this festival will have tons of food, music, and even a kids zone to keep the little ones occupied.

Hopped and Confused Beer Music & Food Festival @ 555 Wellington St: Aug 17th-18th:

The name kind of says it all doesn't it? Featuring a huge variety of delicious beers, live music, and food vendors, Hopped and Confused is an ideal way to spend a summer weekend.

The Brewery Market @ Hintonburg Park: Aug 18th 12pm-8pm:

With a large selection of tasty beer, a splash pad, tons of barbecue to feast on, and free admission, the Brewery Market is perfect for lovers of beer.

Art Battle Ottawa @ Arts Court: Aug 17th 7pm-11pm:

An exciting 3 round competition where 12 artists are given a set time to paint, and audience votes push them too the next round. All pieces will be auctioned off as well.
