Events in Toronto and Ottawa June 7, 2018

Hi everyone! My name is Cam and I am the new Community Representative here at SpaceiShare. Since community is so important to us here, every week we will be posting updates about events going on in Ottawa and Toronto, because we know that living in a big city makes it difficult to know all the fun options going on near you. Without further ado, here you are:
Events In Toronto:

Bring the Kids:

Children’s Author Reading @ Downsview Library: June 9th 11:30am-12:30pm:

Author Bruna Di Giuseppe-Bertoni will be doing a live reading of her children’s book “I Call My Grandmother Nonna”.


 KiteFest Canada @ Brampton Fairgrounds: June 9th-10th 10am-?: 

 Enjoy the spectacle of hundreds of kites flying through the sky. Event will also feature food, music, and vendors.


Good Eats: 

Grilled Cheese Challenge @ Lakeshore Village: Saturday June 9th 11am-6pm:

Come and try Toronto’s top grilled cheese! A competition where people vote on the best grilled cheese in the city. Winner takes $1000! Also features a Kids-Zone.


Foodalicious @ Downsview Park: Saturday June 9th 11am-11pm Sunday June 10th 11am-8pm:

Foodalicious is a family oriented food event, which features food from gourmet vendors as well as carnival games and live music.


A Tavola @ Ontario Place: June 8th 5pm-11pm June 9th 11am-11pm June 10th 11am-7pm:

A Tavola (translated to “come to the table”) is an Italian food festival where you can enjoy Italian cuisine by the waterfront. What’s not to like?


A More Mature Crowd:

Rosedale Art Fair @Yonge St: June 9th 11am-6pm June 10th 12pm-5pm:

All along Rosedale Main Street, artists will share their works for the art connoisseur to appreciate.


Vibe Arts Fest @ Ontario Place: June 8th-10th All Day:

A art festival displaying the works of youth artists who participate in the VIBE programs, an initiative that works with children and youth in under-resourced communities. Helps support this awesome program!


Toronto True Crime Film Festival 2018 @ Royal Cinema: June 8th-9th 7pm-11pm:

True Crime docs and movies are all of our Netflix guilty pleasures these days. Come and enjoy screenings of documentaries and movies about real crime stories that intrigue and shock us all.


NXNE 2018@ Various Locations: June 8th-17th All Day:   

This massive culture festival, the Northern iteration of SXSW, features famed music acts, gaming events, and club events. This festival of arts and music is not to be missed.


Beaches Arts and Crafts Show 2018 @ Kew Gardens: June 9th 10am-6pm June 10th  10am-6pm:

Over 150 artisans come together to create a marketplace featuring some of Canada’s finest handmade pieces.


Party People:

World Naked Bike Ride @ Coronation Park: June 9th 1pm-6pm:

An international clothing-optional bike ride that draws participants from all over the world. Pre and Post ride parties have become events themselves, and the day is all about spreading body positivity.


Wild Things Fest @ Propeller Coffee Co: June 9th 6pm-1am:

The first annual Wild Things Fest will feature wild-yeast fermented craft beers, one-off wild Ontario ciders, and 7 low-intervention wines. For the cultured alcohol lover!


Session Craft Beer Festival @ Dundas Square: June 9th All Day:

Perfect for the hipsters who won’t settle for Bud Light, this event features the works of 26 different breweries and 100+ different craft beers, as well as live music.


Bike Party @ Christie Pits Park : June 9th 7:30pm-11:59pm:

An event where a bunch of bikers meet up, where costumes and glowsticks, and ride through Toronto together playing music. How could it not be fun?



Vic Mensa @ The Opera House: Friday June 8th 7pm: 

The Chicago rapper/singer takes to the historic Opera house to display his talents.

Jack White @ Budweiser Stage: Saturday June 9th 7:30pm:

 Former member of "The White Stripes" and Rock icon Jack White takes to the famed Budweiser Stage, formerly the Molson Canadian Ampitheater.

Bring the Kids:

Touch A Truck @ Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre: June 10th 10am-3pm:

If you have kids who love vehicles, this event is perfect for you. Featuring a variety of different trucks and cars, from fire trucks to monster trucks, your kid will love the chance to see their favourite big vehicles.


#JDRF Walk @ Queen Juliana Park: June 10th 8:30am-2pm:

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the JDRF Walk and help end diabetes! Proceeds go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the leading global type-1 diabetes organization.


Navy Bike Ride @National Research Council Canada: June 9th 9am:

A family cycling event on the streets of Ottawa, this event 9km event is for cyclists of all skills and ages. The event is hosted by the Royal Canadian Navy, so support your troops!



A More Mature Crowd:

613flea @ Aberdeen Pavilion: All day June 9th:

A monthly flea market in Ottawa that hosts over 110 vendors, 613flea will feature handmades, vintage goods, and antiques to create a trendy and fun atmostphere.


Orleans Art Studio Tour @ Orleans and Blackburn Hamlet: June 9th-10th 10am-4pm:

The 12 edition of the Orleans Art Studio Tour will feature 12 artists hosted in 10 studios. Perfect event for those looking for under-the-radar art finds.


Party People:

Latin Sparks Block Party @ Albert Island: June 9th 9pm:

A Latin outdoor dance party that has dance lessons, DJs, and food trucks, as well as VIP booths and bottles for those high rollers out there. A wild and vibrant atmosphere for those looking for a fun Saturday night.


Orleans Craft Beer Festival @Centrum Festival Grounds: June 7th-9th  4pm:

The tagline of this event is “Beer, Music, Food, and Friends”, and this year they are claiming to up the ante by adding more of everything. Need I say more?
